John Leguizamo’s ‘Ghetto Clown’ To Air On HBO

Comedian and actor, John Leguizamo, is premiering “Ghetto Klown” this Saturday, March 22 on HBO.

In Ghetto Klown, John opens up about his childhood. According to him, he developed an outgoing personality based on the environment he was raised in. Growing up, John was very poor and had to find ways to entertain himself.

“When you have no money, all you have is fun … so I developed my sense of humor, with my friends, making fun of them,” John told El Diaro. “We were extremely poor, my sneakers were the cheapest and didn’t have the ‘Converse’ lines, so then I would draw them in with a sharpie.”

The Colombian grew up in Queens, the neighborhood he considers “ghetto.” “It has to be a somewhat poor neighborhood, where there are people from all over the world and have ‘food stamps’ … your parents have three or four jobs, you go to public school. It’s a difficult life, but you have opportunities.”

“Ghetto Klown” will be released on HBO at 10 pm. He doesn’t want to offend anyone but rather share the journey that led him to where he is now.

“These are stories on how you achieve success, how you fall down, how depressed comes, and how from that I could reinvent myself,” said John.
