Diego Maradona Says He Is ‘Willing To Be A Soldier For Venezuela’

He may be one of the greatest soccer players ever but Argentine soccer icon, Diego Maradona, is facing some heat for his comments about being willing to be a soldier for Venezuela in its battle against “imperialist” attacks.

Recently, the people of Venezuela have protested about President Nicolas Maduro’s economic policies and have been repressed by the government resulting with over 10 deaths in the last month.

53-year-old Maradonna who was friends with deceased president Hugo Chavez and has close ties to country of Venezuela spoke out about the criticism that the government is facing for oppressing its own people.

“We’re seeing all the lies from the imperialists, and I’m willing to be a soldier for Venezuela for whatever is needed of me,” he said. “Chavez would have wanted this.”
